Anisa Omar

Anisa Omar is an Associate Attorney at Meshbesher & Spence. Her practice focuses on advocating for individuals after serious injuries, including:

• Motor Vehicle Accidents
• Personal Injury
• Medical Malpractice

Anisa’s federal experience includes serving as a judicial extern to the Honorable Judge Jerry Blackwell, where she worked on complex matters involving civil jurisdiction, constitutional due process, and habeas corpus claims. She further developed her federal advocacy through the Federal Commutations Clinic, focusing on sentencing and executive clemency.

She also served as a Law Clerk at the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, working on habeas corpus litigation, civil commitment proceedings, and consumer protection enforcement matters, developing a strong foundation in state statutory and constitutional law.

Anisa received her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where she was a Minnesota Women Lawyers Scholarship Recipient (2023) and a Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers Scholarship Recipient (2024). During law school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Public Policy and competed on the Black Law Students Association Trial Advocacy Team, where her team advanced to the semifinals.

Prior to attending law school, Anisa served as Dean of Students at a local charter school, working closely with first-generation Somali American students and their families. She also gained legislative experience as an intern in Washington, D.C.

Anisa earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Ethnic Studies, from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she served as President of the Student Government Association and was selected as a commencement speaker.

Outside of work, she enjoys singing karaoke, bowling, and spending time with her family.
