Flom elected President of the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association for the year 2005

February 5, 2005

Kate Flom, a personal injury attorney and Vice-President of Meshbesher & Spence, Ltd, was elected President of the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association for the year 2005. Ms Flom is a Certified Civil Trial Specialist and has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” for successive years since 2000. Ms Flom has specialized in personal injury and wrongful death litigation with the Minneapolis office of Meshbesher & Spence, Ltd. since 1990.

She is a graduate of Bates College and Hamline University School of Law. Ms Flom worked in the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office for many years before shifting her focus to civil litigation. She views herself as a “guardian of individual rights against money, power, big business and big insurance, and, of course, the government.”

Ms Flom has represented clients with catastrophic injuries such as limb loss and paralysis and who have serious concerns regarding their future medical care and reduced ability to earn a livelihood. She has also represented families who have lost a loved one to tragic consequences and also face issues of lost financial support and companionship.

Flom’s case work ranges form motor vehicle accidents to complex medical malpractice. In response to President Bush’s call for medical malpractice reform, she replied, “The cry for reform is another example of special interest politics.

There is no question that so-called ‘frivolous’ mapractice lawsuits are extremely rare and not the rule as suggested by the President. These cases are simply too expensive to litigate. The insurance industry needs governmental regulation of its underwting practices.”
